About Rachel
Rachel Legorreta entered law school after completing a political science degree at Northern Illinois University. She earned her J.D. from Northern Illinois University College of Law in 2017, having received a B.A. in Political Science in 2014. While at the law school she also completed a Certificate in Applied Ethics, a credential that informed her approach to courtroom procedure and client counseling.
Her early courtroom exposure came as a judicial extern in 2015 at the Illinois Appellate Court, Second District. That placement offered a close view of appellate decisionmaking and legal research under the supervision of sitting judges. She moved into practice after graduation and by 2017 was working as an attorney at the Law Offices of John J. Malm & Associates, P.C., where she has carried cases in both state and federal forums.
Legorreta is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Those credentials permit her to handle matters that originate in county courtrooms as well as disputes filed in federal court. Her professional memberships include the DuPage County Bar Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, and the Illinois State Bar Association. She maintains an active presence in local bar activities and attends continuing education offered through those organizations.
Colleagues describe her as meticulous in legal research and steady in deposition settings. She blends courtroom preparation with the kind of procedural discipline learned during an appellate externship. Her academic training in applied ethics has shaped how she approaches client decisions and case strategy, especially when complex evidentiary or procedural questions arise.
At the Law Offices of John J. Malm & Associates, P.C., she has taken on a range of matters that require litigation in Illinois courts and in federal court. Her caseload has included contested hearings, motion practice, and client consultations aimed at clarifying legal options. She has handled filings and appearances in both trial and pretrial settings, and she continues to expand her practical experience through hands-on casework.
Her current practice is based at the Law Offices of John J. Malm & Associates, P.C., where she represents clients in matters in Illinois state court and in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
