About Rachel
Rachel Jacobs earned her J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2013 after completing a B.A. at Binghamton University in 2008. Her academic record placed her on a path that included both courtroom work and public service early in her career. The law school years gave her exposure to litigation clinics and appellate drafting, experiences that shaped her move into practice and a judicial clerkship.
Following graduation, Jacobs served as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. Jessica Mayer, J.S.C., at the Superior Court of New Jersey in 2013. That year on the bench gave her daily experience parsing case law, managing complex dockets, and writing legal opinions. She moved into private practice the next year, joining Gair, Gair, Conason, Rubinowitz, Bloom, Hershenhorn, Steigman & Mackauf as an associate in 2014. At the firm she worked on litigation matters alongside senior trial lawyers and participated in case preparation and courtroom proceedings.
Jacobs is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey and is also admitted in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Those admissions allow her to handle matters in both state and federal forums. Colleagues describe her as methodical in drafting pleadings and attentive during depositions and hearings.
Her professional memberships include the American Association for Justice, the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, and the New Jersey State Bar. She maintains active ties to these organizations and participates in meetings and continuing legal education offerings. The associations provide a network that supports litigation practice and professional development across state lines.
Clients and co-counsel have encountered Jacobs in courtroom settings as well as in settlement conferences. She prepares filings, works through discovery disputes, and argues procedural motions. Her courtroom experience is backed by the perspective she gained clerking for a state trial judge, which informs how she frames legal issues for judges and opposing counsel.
Jacobs practices out of Gair, Gair, Conason, Rubinowitz, Bloom, Hershenhorn, Steigman & Mackauf. Her current practice centers on litigation in New York and New Jersey courts.
