About Christine
Christine Colvert studied English at Boston College before turning to the law. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2011 and then attended Seton Hall University School of Law, where she received her J.D. in 2014. The trajectory from an undergraduate degree in literature to a law degree informs the way she reads statutes and prepares written arguments. It also shaped her early approach to client work: careful reading, clear writing and attention to context.
After law school she moved quickly into practice. In 2015 she joined Shulman & Hill as a lawyer and serves there as a partner. Her years at the firm have covered the ordinary demands of firm practice: advising clients, drafting pleadings and motions, and appearing in court when necessary. Colvert’s background in both state systems shapes how she manages matters that cross jurisdictional lines.
Colvert is licensed in both New Jersey and New York. That dual licensure allows her to handle matters that arise in either state and to coordinate strategy where cases touch both systems. She works with colleagues at Shulman & Hill on cases that require coordination across courts and agencies. Her practice involves regular interaction with opposing counsel, court staff and administrative bodies in both states.
She is an active member of several professional associations. Colvert holds memberships in the New York State Bar Association, the Brooklyn Bar Association and the New Jersey State Bar Association. Those affiliations keep her engaged with continuing education and local legal communities. She attends association programs and uses those opportunities to stay current on developments in practice and procedure.
Colvert combines a foundation in legal writing with on-the-ground experience in New Jersey and New York courts. Her training at Seton Hall and Boston College continues to inform how she evaluates a matter and communicates with clients. At Shulman & Hill she manages client files, participates in firm strategy sessions and mentors more junior lawyers. She is based at the firm and handles matters that arise in both jurisdictions.
She currently practices at Shulman & Hill and handles matters arising in New Jersey and New York.
