About R. Brent
R. Brent Wisner pursued a broad education before entering the bar. He earned his bachelor’s degree in philosophy and political science from the University of Southern California in 2005. He then moved to Washington, D.C., where he completed a Master of Public Policy at Georgetown’s McCourt School and a J.D. at Georgetown University Law Center in 2010.
After law school, Wisner began building a courtroom practice that leans on both trial work and consumer litigation. His early years in practice combined litigation training with membership in professional groups that reflect his interests. He holds current memberships in Consumer Lawyers of California and Consumer Lawyers of Los Angeles, the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice and the Federal Bar Association.
Those affiliations point to the kinds of matters he pursues. His caseload has centered on disputes brought by individuals and groups against corporations. He has taken depositions, argued pretrial motions and tried cases before juries and judges. He has also taken part in complex case management, often coordinating efforts among multiple counsel and expert witnesses.
Colleagues describe him as precise in court filings and deliberate at the lectern. He tends to favor clear, evidence-driven presentations over theatrical tactics. That approach has shaped how he prepares for trial and how he advises clients facing difficult litigation choices. He has worked across stages of litigation, from investigative discovery through settlement negotiations and trial.
Wisner’s background in public policy informs his courtroom strategy. The training gives him additional perspective when cases raise regulatory or statutory questions. It also helps when he must explain technical findings to juries. His undergraduate studies in philosophy and political science contribute to his analytical style and his attention to legal theory when it matters to a case.
He practices at Wisner Baum. In that setting he continues to represent plaintiffs in civil litigation, handling matters that require trial experience, coordinated discovery and strategic litigation planning.
He is currently a practicing attorney at Wisner Baum, handling civil litigation and plaintiff-side consumer matters as his principal areas of practice.
