R. A. Lampkin began his legal career in the mid-2000s in public service. In 2005 he joined the Richmond County Solicitor General’s Office as an assistant solicitor general. He spent that early period in courtrooms and at counsel tables, learning the pace of local prosecution and courtroom practice. The work demanded quick legal judgment and steady client handling. It also gave him on-the-ground experience in ordinary trial work.
Two years later he moved to the state level. In 2007 he served as an Assistant Lawyer General in the Georgia Lawyer General’s Office. There he handled matters on behalf of state interests. His time in the office broadened his exposure to administrative and state agency work. It also introduced him to the interplay between local legal issues and statewide policy.
In 2010 he left government practice and opened his own firm, R. A. Lampkin, LLC. He has practiced as a sole practitioner since then. Running a solo practice required shifting roles from courtroom advocate to business manager. He took on client intake, case strategy, and the day-to-day operations that keep a small firm running. Those tasks have shaped his approach to case handling and client relations.
Throughout his career he has balanced courtroom experience with client-facing work. Early prosecutorial experience gave him an appreciation for trial preparation and evidentiary practice. State office work added exposure to regulatory and agency processes. His solo practice has tied those strands together, applying procedural knowledge across different kinds of matters while managing client expectations and deadlines.
