About Phil

Phil Harding earned a B.A. in chemistry from the University of Colorado Denver in 1986 and a J.D. from the University of Denver in 1990. He came to law after a concentrated study in the sciences. That background informs how he reads technical materials and weighs expert testimony.

After law school Harding joined the Colorado bar and built a practice centered in the state. Over time he gained admission to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, credentials that allow him to handle matters beyond the trial level. He has worked in both state and federal venues and has experience preparing filings for appellate consideration.

Colleagues describe Harding as methodical. He approaches cases by breaking complex problems into discrete elements and testing each against the record. That approach is well suited to appellate work, where precision in briefing and citation matters. His scientific training also helps when cases involve technical subject matter or disputed expert evidence.

Harding’s courtroom work has included drafting appellate briefs and handling procedural matters in federal courts. He has navigated the rules that govern appellate practice and the specific filing requirements of higher courts. That practical familiarity with appellate procedure complements the substantive legal analysis required in higher court filings.

Outside the appellate context, Harding has engaged in litigation practice in state courts on a range of civil matters. He has experience counseling clients through pretrial motions and discovery disputes and translating trial records into appellate arguments when cases progress to the next level.

He remains based in Colorado and continues to accept matters that require representation in state courts, the Tenth Circuit, and in filings before the nation’s highest court. He currently practices in Colorado and handles state and federal appellate matters.
