About Phil
Phil Brown built a legal education deliberately aimed at criminal law. He earned a B.A. in Criminal Justice from the University of Miami in 1990. He received a J.D. from St. Thomas University School of Law in 1995 and followed that with an LL.M. in Criminal Law from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1996. The sequence underlines an early and sustained interest in criminal matters.
He moved into public service early in his career. In 1997 he served as Chief Deputy at the Clark County District Lawyer's Office. That role placed him in the middle of prosecutorial work and courtroom practice. It offered front-line experience in case preparation, jury trials and the daily pressures of a busy government office.
After years in government work, Brown shifted toward private practice. In 2011 he opened Brown Law Offices and took on the responsibilities of firm owner. Running a small firm changed the focus of his work. He handles client intake, case strategy and the administrative duties that come with leading a practice.
Brown is licensed to practice in both California and Nevada. His academic training and early prosecutorial experience inform how he handles criminal matters in those states. He represents clients at various stages of criminal proceedings, from arraignment through trial. He also works on related matters that intersect with criminal cases.
Colleagues and clients describe him as pragmatic in the courtroom. He prepares cases thoroughly and values clear communication. He is comfortable handling both negotiated resolutions and contested trials. His experience as a former government attorney gives him perspective on the tactics and timelines typical of prosecutors in Clark County and elsewhere.
Today Brown maintains a private practice in which he manages cases and supervises legal work at Brown Law Offices. He practices criminal law in California and Nevada and handles defense work and related matters for individuals and businesses in those jurisdictions.
