Peter Mitchell Stanwyck is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1972. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Stanwyck earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, commonly known as Boalt Hall, where he graduated in 1972. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree. During his time at Boalt Hall, he was actively involved in various student organizations and gained practical experience through internships and clerkships.
Mr. Stanwyck concentrates his practice in the areas of business law, arbitration and mediation, and employment law. He represents individuals and businesses in matters involving business contracts, business dissolution, business finance, business formation, business litigation, franchising, mergers and acquisitions, partnership and shareholder disputes, employee benefits, employment contracts, employment discrimination, ERISA, overtime and unpaid wages, sexual harassment, whistleblower cases, and wrongful termination. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Stanwyck has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Alameda, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at a mid-size litigation firm in Oakland for several years, gaining extensive experience in complex commercial litigation and dispute resolution.
Mr. Stanwyck is an active member of the California State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He holds membership in the State Bar's Business Law Section and the Labor and Employment Law Section. He is also a certified mediator through the Alameda County Superior Court mediation program. Mr. Stanwyck is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of the Bay Area effectively.
