About Gina

Gina Szeto-Wong earned a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley in 2000. She returned to Berkeley for law school and received her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 2012. Those academic years bridged two distinct disciplines and set the stage for a career that has moved between public-interest work, federal court clerking and trial practice.

She began her legal career in 2012 as a staff lawyer at the Asian Law Caucus. That position placed her in community-centered legal work early in her career and exposed her to client advocacy outside large firm structures. Four years later she joined the federal judiciary as a law clerk for the United States District Court in 2016, taking on responsibilities common to court staff: research, drafting opinions and assisting judges with the flow of cases.

After the clerkship she entered private practice as a trial lawyer at the Law Office of Eric Seitz in 2017. That role expanded her courtroom work and involved preparing cases for trial. In 2021 she launched Szeto-Wong Law and became principal lawyer. Running a small firm has required handling both the substantive work of cases and the practical tasks of managing a practice.

Szeto-Wong is admitted to practice in California and Hawaii and is also admitted to appear before the Ninth Circuit. Those admissions reflect the geographical range of her work and her experience in federal court settings. Over time she has moved between roles that emphasize different parts of litigation: community advocacy, judicial research and writing, and trial practice.

Peers and former employers have described a steady progression through those roles rather than abrupt shifts. Her resume shows a sequence from public-interest attorney to judicial clerk to trial advocate to firm principal. Each position contributed a different skill set: client-facing advocacy, detailed opinion drafting, and courtroom presentation.

Today she leads Szeto-Wong Law. The firm handles litigation and trial matters in state and federal courts in California and Hawaii, and represents clients before the Ninth Circuit. Her current practice concentrates on litigation and trial work in those jurisdictions.
