About Peter
Peter Dosik studied political science at Duke University and stayed there for law school. He earned his B.A. in political science in 1989 and a J.D. in 1994. Those years shaped both his interest in public institutions and his approach to practice: practical, detail-oriented, and attentive to institutional context.
After law school he entered legal practice in Georgia. Over the years he has built a practice that intersects law and regulated commerce. He is admitted to practice in Georgia and has remained active in the state’s legal community. His experience includes serving in professional leadership roles that extend beyond day-to-day practice.
Since 2012 he has been chairman of the Franchise and Distribution Section of the Georgia Bar Association. The role has required him to shepherd meetings, steer section programs and work with peers on continuing legal education and policy issues that affect franchisors, franchisees and distributors. He has held that leadership post for a sustained period, often balancing association responsibilities against client work and firm duties.
Outside the bar he has kept a hand in civic and cultural affairs. He joined the board of directors of the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) in 2012 and remains on the board. That position places him at the intersection of legal governance and nonprofit stewardship. Board work often involves oversight, fundraising strategy and governance decisions. It also gives him a different vantage point on institutional challenges than client representation alone.
Colleagues describe his approach as methodical. He tends to break complex problems into discrete parts. That style is well suited to franchise and distribution matters, where contracts, regulatory compliance and operational practices intersect. He works through the details that often decide disputed issues.
He publishes or speaks less frequently than some peers, preferring sustained work on client matters and association projects. His long tenure in leadership roles reflects consistent engagement rather than publicity. He moves between advising clients, running section activities and contributing to nonprofit governance.
He maintains an active practice in Georgia, where he handles franchise and distribution matters and participates in legal education and association leadership. His current practice centers on franchise and distribution matters in Georgia.
