About Paul K. Mengert
Paul K. Mengert II earned his B.A. in history from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2012 and went on to receive his J.D. from Elon University School of Law in 2015. While still in law school he took a practical step into public service, working as a legal extern at the Guilford County District Attorney's Office in 2013. That early exposure to courtroom procedure and case preparation shaped his early approach to client work and litigation.
After law school, Mengert began his professional practice as an associate lawyer at Hux Law Office in 2015. In that role he handled client files, prepared pleadings and participated in hearings. The position offered frequent courtroom time and required managing deadlines, discovery and client communications. Those responsibilities provided a steady platform for his transition into private practice.
In 2017 he moved to Scott Law Group, PLLC, where he served as a lawyer. Over several years at Scott Law Group he continued to manage contested matters, engage in negotiations and represent clients in hearings. His work there expanded his experience in litigation strategy and case management, and he developed routines for preparing cases for trial as well as for settlement discussions.
Mengert has been a member of the North Carolina Bar Association since 2016 and is licensed to practice in North Carolina. He has worked in both public and private settings, which gives him familiarity with the procedures of local courts and the practical demands of client representation. Colleagues and clients have worked with him on matters that required steady procedural handling and responsiveness to changing case details.
In 2023 he joined Woodruff Family Law Group as a lawyer at law. At Woodruff he practices family law and handles the practicalities of representing clients in sensitive domestic matters. He currently practices family law at Woodruff Family Law Group.
