About Patrick T.
Patrick T. Collins earned his law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1984 after completing a B.A. at Seton Hall University in 1981. He completed his legal education at a time when New Jersey’s courts were dealing with significant changes in civil and family practice. The chronology of his education sits plainly on his resume, but it also shaped the sort of cases he would later handle.
He has practiced law at Skoloff & Wolfe, P.C. During his time there he handled matters in both state and federal forums. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and in several federal courts, including the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the Third Circuit, the Tenth Circuit, and the Federal Circuit. Those admissions reflect a career that has spanned trial work and appellate filings.
Collins holds two board certifications from the New Jersey Board on Attorney Certification. He is a Certified Civil Trial Lawyer and a Certified Matrimonial Law Lawyer. Those credentials require peer review and testing; they are meant to identify lawyers who have met particular standards in trial and family law practice. The certifications underline the areas of the law where he has concentrated much of his professional energy.
He has remained involved in bar activities. He holds memberships in the Essex County Bar Association and the New Jersey State Bar Association. He also served as chair of the Supreme Court of New Jersey District V-B Fee Arbitration committee. That role placed him in a position to oversee and resolve fee disputes between attorneys and clients at the district level.
Cases he has handled range across civil litigation and matrimonial matters, reflecting the combination of his certifications and court admissions. He has filed and argued motions in federal district court and has appeared in appellate proceedings where necessary. His practice involves preparing cases for trial as well as navigating appellate procedures when appeals arise.
Today he is based at Skoloff & Wolfe, P.C. His work continues to involve civil trials and matrimonial law, and he handles matters in both trial courts and selected federal appellate venues. He remains active in the local bar and in fee arbitration work while maintaining his practice at the firm.
