About Thomas J.

Thomas J. DeCataldo built his legal foundation in two New York and New Jersey institutions. He earned a B.A. from Fordham University in 2006 and went on to receive his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2009. Those years shaped his early approach to practice—classroom debate, clinic work and the routine of legal research. They also set the stage for a career spent largely in regional practice.

After law school, DeCataldo entered private practice and became associated with Skoloff & Wolfe, P.C. He has worked at that firm in roles that put him in regular contact with clients, judges and opposing counsel. The day-to-day is familiar: drafting pleadings, preparing for hearings and advising clients on procedural and substantive questions. Colleagues describe him as steady and methodical. He is comfortable handling the practical demands of litigation and courtroom procedure.

DeCataldo is admitted to practice in both New York and New Jersey and maintains active bar memberships in each state. He has been a member of the State Bar of New Jersey since 2015. Locally, he holds memberships across several county bars, including Essex, Morris and Union. In Essex County he serves as a trustee of the bar organization, a role that involves administrative oversight and participation in programming for members.

His professional associations include groups that center on family law practice. He is an associate member of the Barry I. Croland Family Law Inn of Court and serves on the board of the New Jersey chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. Those affiliations indicate an ongoing interest in family court procedure and the intersection of legal practice with child and family services. He also maintains membership in the New York State Bar, the Essex County Bar Association and the Morris and Union County bar associations.

In public settings and local meetings DeCataldo has focused on issues that matter to practitioners working in family and civil courts: case management, evidence practice and client counseling in emotionally charged matters. He contributes to committee work and continuing legal education programming when opportunities arise. His career shows a pattern of steady involvement in both the local bar and organizations tied to family law.

He continues to practice at Skoloff & Wolfe, P.C., and concentrates his work on family law and related civil matters out of offices serving clients in the tri-state area.
