About Patrick
Patrick McNicholas earned his J.D. from McGeorge School of Law after completing a B.S. at the University of San Francisco. He built his legal foundation in California courts and has maintained a long-standing presence in the state's trial bar. His academic background combined law and undergraduate studies rooted in the Bay Area.
He moved from classroom to courtroom, entering private practice upon finishing law school. Over the years he has taken on cases that have required courtroom work and extended litigation. Colleagues describe him as a trial lawyer who favors rigorous preparation. He has served on boards and in membership roles that reflect a broad engagement with the profession rather than a narrow practice.
McNicholas holds roles in a number of legal organizations. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and serves on the Board of Governors of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He sits on the Board of Governors for Consumer Lawyers of California and is listed among the Board of Trustees for the Los Angeles County Bar Association. His involvement extends to academic and civic institutions as well. He is on the Board of Advisors for the University of California Irvine Civil Justice Research Institute and serves on the University of San Francisco Board of Trustees. He is also a patron of the American Association for Justice Leaders Forum and has a seat on the Board of Directors for Urban Compass, a group he helped found. He maintains memberships in the American Trial Lawyers Association and the Consumer Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, and he appears on the Honorary Board of Governors for Los Angeles Trial Lawyers’ Charities.
Those affiliations reflect the kinds of matters he handles in practice. He undertakes civil litigation and trial work. Consumer protection issues and representative actions have been a recurring part of his docket. He also handles personal injury and other civil disputes that require courtroom advocacy. He is known for engaging in advocacy that connects the courtroom and organizational leadership.
He practices at McNicholas & McNicholas, LLP. There he continues to litigate cases in California courts and to participate in bar and civic activities tied to his work. His current practice centers on civil trial work, including consumer-related litigation and contested matters in state courts.
