About Patrick

Patrick Geckle built his legal foundation at Loyola College, where he earned a B.A. in political science in 1974. He continued his studies at the University of Baltimore School of Law and received his J.D. in 1977. Those years set the stage for a long career in trial work and litigation.

He entered practice in the years after law school and by the mid-1980s was working as an attorney at Mychak, Geckle & Welker. There he handled matters that drew on courtroom experience and an understanding of municipal and civil practice. The firm years gave him repeated exposure to claims against public entities, an area that would recur throughout his career.

In 2003 he formed Patrick G. Geckle, LLC and took on the role of firm owner. Over time the firm became identified with cases involving alleged police misconduct in Philadelphia. He has represented clients in civil suits alleging excessive force, wrongful arrest and related civil-rights claims. His practice mixes trial preparation, motion work and settlement negotiations, depending on the contours of each case.

Geckle is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and has maintained professional memberships over the years. He has worked in venues across the state and in local Philadelphia courts. Colleagues and opposing counsel describe him as deliberate at the courthouse, favoring careful record preparation and a plainspoken approach to courtroom advocacy.

Today Patrick G. Geckle continues to operate his Philadelphia firm, handling police misconduct and civil-rights matters for individuals who bring claims against municipal actors. He remains active in litigation, balancing client representation in trial-ready matters with efforts to resolve disputes when settlement makes sense. His current work centers on police misconduct cases in the Philadelphia area.
