About Patrick E.
Patrick E. Mahoney built his law career on steady progression through courtrooms and clerkships. He earned a B.A. in political science from the University of Washington in 1992 and a J.D. from the University of Idaho College of Law in 1995. Those years set the stage for work inside the judiciary and later in private practice.
Fresh out of law school he served as a judicial law clerk in the 4th Judicial District. He worked for the district judge D. Duff McKee in Boise in 1995, handling research and drafting opinions for trial court matters. The clerkship gave him close exposure to trial procedure and case management at the trial court level.
After the clerkship he moved into litigation practice. In 1996 he was a litigation lawyer at Blackburn Jones and Evans Keane Law Offices. He handled contested matters in state court and began appearing in hearings and trials. Over time he shifted from supporting roles to lead counsel in bench and jury proceedings.
In 2005 he opened Mahoney Law PLLC and has practiced as a trial lawyer there since. He is admitted in Idaho, the Ninth Circuit, and the United States District Court for the District of Idaho, and he regularly files and argues matters in those forums. His professional recognitions include a Super Lawyers rating from Mountain States Super Lawyers and a 10 rating from AVVO.
Mahoney maintains memberships in several professional groups. He joined the Idaho Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice in 2004. He has been an A+ member of the Better Business Bureau since 2007. Earlier in his career he participated in the American Inns of Court from 1997 to 1998.
Colleagues and clients describe his work as litigation-focused and courtroom-oriented. He handles pretrial motion practice, discovery disputes, trial preparation and in-court advocacy. He also works on settlement negotiations and strategic case planning, aiming to advance client positions through both motion work and trial presentation.
He manages a private practice based at Mahoney Law PLLC. His daily work remains centered on representing clients in contested civil matters in state and federal courts. He continues to handle trial work and litigation for individuals and businesses in Idaho.
