About Patrick
Patrick Coughlin built his legal foundation in California classrooms and courtrooms. He earned a B.A. in political science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 2005. He went on to obtain a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2008. Those years shaped his approach to practice: methodical, case-focused and attentive to procedural detail.
After law school he moved into private practice. In 2011 he opened The Law Office of Patrick M. Coughlin, establishing a solo practice and taking on the work that comes with running a small office. In 2013 he joined The Law Offices of Earl Carter and Associates as an associate lawyer. That stint in a firm setting added a different rhythm to his work, exposing him to joint case management and the demands of representing clients within a team environment.
Coughlin’s career reflects experience both as an owner and as a firm associate. He has handled client intake, case preparation and courtroom hearings, and he has managed the administrative side of running a practice. Colleagues and clients who have worked with him describe a lawyer who focuses on clear communication and steady case management. He practices in California and is familiar with the state’s procedural rules and court practices.
Today he maintains The Law Office of Patrick M. Coughlin and continues to represent clients in matters arising under California law. His current practice is based in California at The Law Office of Patrick M. Coughlin, where he handles matters for individuals and businesses in state jurisdictional matters.
