About Daniel

Daniel Chung attended Harvard University where he completed a B.A., then went on to earn his J.D. at Columbia Law School. He came to law school after an undergraduate course of study that emphasized critical thinking and writing. Those skills resurfaced in clinic work and in the courtroom during his early career.

He began his prosecutorial career in New York. In 2014 he joined the Bronx County prosecutor’s office as an assistant district lawyer. That post introduced him to trial work and to the practical demands of managing cases from charging through disposition. He moved to California later in the decade and returned to public service in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Chung served twice as a deputy in Santa Clara County, first in 2018 and again in 2022. Those years placed him at counsel table in a county with a busy calendar of felony and misdemeanor matters. He handled preliminary hearings, plea negotiations, and bench and jury trials. The record shows steady courtroom exposure and repeated responsibilities for case preparation and witness examination.

The through-line of Chung’s career is experience on the prosecution side of criminal justice. He worked across a range of matters that required motion practice, legal research, and fast-paced decision making. He is comfortable in adversarial settings and at the same time has had to coordinate with investigators, victims’ advocates, and law enforcement. Those collaborations shaped his approach to evidence and to courtroom procedure.

After years in public service he opened the Law Office of Daniel Chung in California. He runs a small practice out of that office and continues to draw on the trial skills he developed as a prosecutor. His background gives him practical insight into both the mechanics of trial work and the strategic choices that arise long before jury selection.

Outside of casework he maintains professional memberships and keeps active ties to peers in the legal community. He has not been publicly credited with law teaching positions or widely published legal scholarship, and his public record centers on courtroom practice rather than academic roles.

Chung now practices from the Law Office of Daniel Chung in California. His current practice focuses on criminal law matters in California courts.
