About Oscar Rene

Oscar Rene Gutierrez built his legal foundation across two California campuses. He earned dual bachelor’s degrees from the University of Southern California in 2006, one in Communication and another in American Studies and Ethnicity. He went on to Pepperdine University School of Law and received his J.D. in 2010. The timeline shows a steady progression from undergraduate study into law school and then into practice.

His early practical experience came while still a student. In 2008 he served as a judicial extern for Judge Ronald S.W. Lew at the United States District Court for the Central District of California. That placement exposed him to federal courtroom procedure and the rhythm of written opinions. After law school he began practicing and by 2011 was working as a trial lawyer at the LAW OFFICES OF OSCAR H. GUTIERREZ, APC, a firm that carries his name.

In 2012 he added public-sector experience to his résumé as a Volunteer Deputy City Lawyer at the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office. That role placed him on the side of municipal law and gave him a different view of litigation strategy and government practice. Throughout the 2010s he also maintained an active private practice, handling courtroom work and related pretrial matters.

Gutierrez is active in the local bar community. He has been Treasurer of the Mexican American Bar Association (MABA) since 2016. Since 2015 he has been involved in the Litigation Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and has served as a membership co-chair there. He has been a member of the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles since 2011, and his association list traces back to the early years of his practice. Those memberships show a steady engagement with peers and professional programs in Los Angeles.

Colleagues describe him as a lawyer who came up through clerking and municipal work before settling into trial practice. His path reflects courtroom exposure at different levels: federal externship, city attorney volunteer work, and private litigation. That combination informs how he prepares cases and counsels clients.

Today he practices at the LAW OFFICES OF OSCAR H. GUTIERREZ, APC. He concentrates his practice on civil litigation and trial work in California.
