About Nigel

Nigel Stacey built a legal path that moved quickly from classroom to partnership. He completed a B.A. from Wesleyan University in 2011 and earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 2016. Those academic credentials set the stage for work in multiple jurisdictions and a demanding private practice environment.

He began his legal career as an associate at Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy LLP in 2016. At Milbank he worked on matters that required coordination across teams and attention to procedural detail. The firm’s broad practice areas offered exposure to high-stakes matters and complex client needs. That period served as an intensive apprenticeship in document drafting, motion practice, and client counseling.

In 2019 he became a partner at Stacey & Jacobsen, PLLC. Taking a partnership role three years after joining the profession is rare, and it shaped how he approaches case management and firm operations. As a partner he assumed responsibility for supervising associates, directing litigation strategy, and managing client relationships. His role expanded beyond individual matters to include decisions about staffing and practice development at the firm.

Stacey is admitted to practice in Washington, the District of Columbia, and New York. That multi-jurisdictional admission has informed the geographic scope of his work. He has appeared before state and federal tribunals and handled matters that required coordination across those forums. His experience includes drafting pleadings, arguing motions, and advising clients on strategic options when matters cross jurisdictional lines.

Colleagues describe his approach as methodical and precise rather than flashy. He emphasizes preparation and clarity in written submissions. In the office he has overseen the training of junior lawyers and worked to standardize internal practices for case intake and calendaring. Outside the courtroom his practice involves advising clients on procedural and substantive choices that affect litigation posture.

He now practices at Stacey & Jacobsen, PLLC. He handles matters in the jurisdictions where he is admitted and continues to manage trial and pretrial work alongside firm responsibilities.
