Nickolas John Dibiaso is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1969. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Dibiaso is of counsel at Fennemore, a law firm located in Fresno, California. He has been practicing law for over fifty-six years, serving clients throughout the Central Valley and beyond.
Mr. Dibiaso earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, where he graduated in 1968. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at Santa Clara University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 1965. During his time at Berkeley Law, he was recognized for his academic achievements and commitment to the legal profession.
Mr. Dibiaso concentrates his practice in the areas of business litigation, appellate practice, mediation, and arbitration. He has represented clients in various complex commercial disputes, including antitrust, securities, agricultural, corporate, and construction industry matters. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts. He has also served as an arbitrator, mediator, special master, referee, and private judge in numerous proceedings, demonstrating his versatility and expertise in alternative dispute resolution.
Throughout his career, Mr. Dibiaso has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Fresno, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the United States Supreme Court, and the United States Tax Court. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to joining Fennemore, he served as a judge on the Fresno County Superior Court from 1985 to 1989 and as a justice on the Court of Appeal, Fifth Appellate District, from 1989 to 2006. His extensive judicial experience has provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the legal system and the intricacies of appellate and trial procedures.
Mr. Dibiaso is an active member of the Fresno County Bar Association, where he has served on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer. He is also a member of the California Academy of Appellate Lawyers and the California Judges Association. Additionally, he has been recognized as a Fellow of the College of Commercial Arbitrators and has been listed as a Northern California ADR "Superlawyer" by the Daily Journal from 2013 to 2018. Mr. Dibiaso is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of the Central Valley effectively.
