About Nicholas R.

Nicholas R. Pagliari earned his undergraduate degree in history from Pennsylvania State University in 1998 and completed his J.D. at the University of Dayton School of Law in 2001. He entered the legal profession at the start of the 21st century and has built a practice centered on courtroom work and appellate matters in both state and federal settings.

He became a partner at MacDonald, Illig, Jones & Britton in 2012. That role followed years of courtroom appearances and case work that led to leadership responsibilities within the firm. As a partner, he has taken on trial and appellate assignments and handles complex filings in multiple jurisdictions.

Mr. Pagliari is admitted in Pennsylvania and New York and holds admission to the Third Circuit and several federal district courts, including the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the Western District of New York and the Western District of Pennsylvania. He appears regularly in those venues and manages matters that require work across state lines and before federal tribunals.

His professional affiliations reflect active ties to Pennsylvania’s legal community. He holds memberships in the Pennsylvania State Bar, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Erie County Bar Association and the Allegheny County Bar Association. He is a fellow of the American Bar Foundation and is also a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, a sign of participation in the national conversation on insolvency and restructuring issues.

In practice, Mr. Pagliari handles litigation that spans commercial disputes, creditor and debtor matters, and appellate work. He prepares trial filings and briefs, represents clients in hearings, and pursues appeals when cases move to higher courts. Colleagues describe his approach as methodical and focused on the technical and procedural elements that determine outcomes in contested matters.

Outside the courtroom he has taken part in bar activities and professional groups that concentrate on bankruptcy and litigation practice. Those involvements have informed his approach to complex cases that touch on both procedural and substantive law.

He currently practices at MacDonald, Illig, Jones & Britton, where his work concentrates on litigation and bankruptcy matters in Pennsylvania and New York.
