About Nic R.

Nic R. Russell is a partner at Rogers & Russell. He works from the firm's roster of attorneys and is admitted to practice in Utah and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.

He began his academic path in Utah, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Utah in 2008. He then earned a Juris Doctor from Creighton University School of Law in 2013. A year later he completed an LL.M. in Taxation at the University of Washington School of Law, a graduate credential that signals concentrated study of federal and state tax systems.

Those academic choices shaped the kinds of matters he handles. The LL.M. in Taxation informs his approach to tax law and related issues. He combines that training with litigation and transactional work when cases demand both technical tax analysis and courtroom or negotiation skills.

Russell is a member of the Utah State Bar. He is also admitted to practice before the Tenth Circuit, which allows him to represent clients in appeals arising from federal courts in the region. That combination of state and federal admissions is part of how he manages matters that cross jurisdictional lines.

At Rogers & Russell he holds a leadership role as partner. The firm association places him among a team of lawyers who address business, tax, and dispute matters. Colleagues say he contributes the specialized tax training that an LL.M. provides, while also handling the procedural and substantive aspects of cases that move through trial and appellate courts.

Outside of casework he has kept ties to legal education through continuing legal education and bar activities, maintaining an active membership in the Utah State Bar. He completed his advanced taxation degree in 2014, a credential that continues to shape how he evaluates complex financial and regulatory questions.

Clients and other attorneys encounter him most often on tax-related problems that intersect with business transactions, estate considerations, and litigation. His practice blends tax law study and courtroom experience, and he currently concentrates his work on tax and related business matters at Rogers & Russell.
