About Natalie
Natalie Hedman built a legal career that moves between courtroom work, solo practice and a brief spell in the classroom. She studied sociology and women's studies at Portland State University, earning a B.S. in 2003. Hedman then pursued law at Nova Southeastern University and received her J.D. in 2008.
After law school she opened a solo practice in 2009 under the name Natalie Hedman, Lawyer at Law. That early experience as a sole practitioner introduced her to the day-to-day demands of representing individuals in family law matters and handling the administrative side of running a small firm. In 2012 she joined Gresham Family & Bankruptcy Law as a senior associate, where she worked on cases that combined family law issues with financial and bankruptcy concerns.
Hedman's professional activities have not been limited to client representation. In 2009 she accepted an adjunct professor position at Heald College, teaching topics related to legal practice for at least a semester. Her classroom work was brief but reflected an interest in helping newer students understand practical aspects of the law.
From 2016 through 2019 she served as co-chair of the Oregon Bar Pro Bono Committee, a role that involved coordinating volunteer legal services and outreach programs. During the same general period she held memberships in Oregon Women Lawyers and the Multnomah Bar Association, participating in local bar activities and events.
Her career returned to solo practice in 2019 when she founded Hedman Family Law, L.L.C. Since then she has maintained her practice in Oregon and is licensed by the Oregon State Bar. The work has centered on family law cases, where questions over parenting plans, support and property division often intersect with debt and bankruptcy issues.
Colleagues describe Hedman as steady in the courtroom and pragmatic in settlement negotiations. She has balanced contested hearings with efforts to resolve disputes outside of trial when that serves a client's interest. Her background in sociology and women's studies informs how she approaches client interviews and case planning, particularly in matters that involve child welfare and family dynamics.
Hedman continues to practice from her firm, handling family law matters and related financial issues through Hedman Family Law, L.L.C.
