About Ms. Imani A.
Imani A. Boykin is the founder and managing shareholder of Boykin Elder Law, P.A., a Jacksonville-based firm specializing in elder and disability law. She earned her Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law in 2005, graduating in the top 20% of her class and serving as an editor for the Florida Coastal Law Review. During law school, she clerked for Federal Magistrates Thomas E — Morris and Monte C. Richardson in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. After law school, Ms.
Boykin worked for two federal judges in the United States District Court, Middle District for the 11th Circuit. She then opened her own firm, initially handling a diverse caseload. Recognizing her focus on serving the elderly and vulnerable populations, she shifted her practice to focus exclusively on elder law. In 2016, she earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Elder Law from Stetson University College of Law, graduating with honors and receiving the Matthew Bender Award for Distinction in the Elder Law program. Ms. Boykin is admitted to practice law in Florida and New Jersey. She is a member of the Florida Bar's Probate Rules Committee, serving a term ending in 2027.
She has also served as a Barrister in the Florida Family Law American Inns of Court and as a member of the Florida Probate Rules Committee. In addition to her legal practice, Ms. Boykin has been recognized for her contributions to the community. In 2016, she was honored as the Jacksonville Woman Lawyer of the Year by the Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association, becoming the first African American woman to receive this award. The Florida Association of Women Lawyers recognized her as a Leader in the Law in 2017. She was also awarded the Jacksonville Area Legal Aid Attorney of the Year Award in 2016 for her pro bono work. Ms.
Boykin is actively involved in several professional organizations, including the Jacksonville Bar Association, Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association. The American Bar Association. She has served as the President of the D.W. Perkins Bar Association and is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. She is also a faculty member and adjunct professor at Stetson University College of Law, teaching disability law to future elder law practitioners. Outside of her professional endeavors, Ms. Boykin enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
