About Mr William M Cummings
Mr William M Cummings II built a legal path that began in the Southeast. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Management from Auburn University in 1989 and went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law in 1996. Those academic years set the stage for a career centered in Georgia courts.
His first post-law-school position was a clerkship in 1996 at the Superior Court of Houston County. That courtroom experience offered a close view of trial procedure, evidentiary practice and judicial decision-making. The clerkship also provided practical experience that informed his later work representing clients in contested matters.
After his time at the courthouse, Cummings continued his legal practice in Georgia. He is admitted to practice in the state and has maintained memberships in several legal organizations. His affiliations include the State Bar of Georgia, the Atlanta Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is active in groups that concentrate on trial work and workplace injuries, holding memberships in the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, the Georgia Workers’ Compensation Claimants’ Lawyers (WCCL) and the Workers’ Injury Law & Advocacy Group (WILG). He also belongs to the Lawyers’ Club of Atlanta.
Those associations reflect the kinds of cases he handles. Over the years, Cummings has worked on matters involving workplace injury claims and related litigation. He represents claimants in proceedings before administrative bodies and in court when matters progress to litigation. He brings courtroom familiarity from his clerkship into these cases, relying on practical understanding of procedure and advocacy.
Cummings practices from an office associated with Cummings & Middlebrooks, LLP. There he shares resources and casework with colleagues while continuing individual representation for clients. Colleagues and local practitioners routinely encounter him in professional settings and through bar and association activities.
Outside of court filings and client conferences, his professional activity includes participation in continuing legal education and association events. He attends programs that cover changing law and procedure in workers’ compensation and trial practice. Those sessions inform his approach to case handling and client counseling.
He currently practices in Georgia at Cummings & Middlebrooks, LLP, handling workers’ compensation claims and related litigation matters.
