About Mr. Steven J.
Mr. Steven J. Palermo trained first as a historian and then as a lawyer. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in history at Villanova University in 1992 and earned his Juris Doctor from Touro College in 1997. Those classroom years set the stage for a practice rooted in New York procedures and courtroom work.
He moved quickly into practice. A year after finishing law school he joined Palermo Tuohy Bruno, P.L.L.C., and became a partner in 1998. That early elevation to partnership shaped a career that has been based on steady service rather than publicity. He has worked primarily in the firm’s Long Island offices while handling matters that require appearances in the state courts.
Palermo is admitted to practice before all the courts of the State of New York. He is also affiliated with the New York State Bar Association’s Department of Pro Bono Affairs. Those credentials reflect a practice tied to the New York legal system and an engagement with access-to-justice work within the state bar structure.
Outside the courtroom, Palermo has been an active member of local and statewide trial lawyer organizations. He has belonged to the Suffolk County Bar Association since 2014 and joined the New York State Trial Lawyers Association in the same year. Those memberships place him in the networks that coordinate continuing education, local court developments, and community legal matters across Long Island and beyond.
Palermo continues to maintain multiple office locations across Long Island, including Riverhead, Patchogue, Garden City, Babylon, Huntington and the firm’s primary office. He splits his time among those offices to meet clients and appear in courts across the region. His day-to-day work involves managing cases that require filings, client counseling, and courtroom appearances in state venues.
He currently concentrates his practice out of the firm’s Long Island offices, handling matters on behalf of clients in New York state courts.
