About Mr. Mark Rein
Mr. Mark Rein Zimmerman built a legal foundation at Cornell University, where he earned a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies in 1984. He went on to receive his J.D. from the University of Florida in 1988. That combination of undergraduate study and law school shaped his approach to courtroom work and client interaction.
He entered public service early in his career. In 1991 he served as an Assistant State Lawyer in the State Lawyer's Office. The role put him in the midst of criminal prosecutions and courtroom procedure. It also gave him front-line experience with jury trials, motion practice and the pressures of high-stakes criminal matters.
Zimmerman moved into private practice and became a partner at Zimmerman and Zimmerman, P.A. in 2000. He handled a range of criminal cases across Florida. Over time he sought and achieved board certification as a Criminal Trial Lawyer from The Florida Bar. That certification reflects a sustained engagement with trial work and peer review of courtroom skill.
Colleagues in Sarasota elected him to leadership positions in local bar organizations. He served as president of the Sarasota Chapter of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers from 2004 to 2006. Since 2008 he has been a member of the Sarasota County Bar Association Board of Directors. Those posts involved administrative responsibilities and work on programs aimed at the legal community.
His background combines state prosecution experience and decades of defense practice. He has handled jury trials, negotiated pleas and argued pretrial motions. Courtroom work and trial preparation occupy a large portion of his professional life. He has also participated in bar activities that shape local legal practice and ethics.
Zimmerman practices law in Florida and maintains an active trial calendar. He handles criminal defense matters at Zimmerman and Zimmerman, P.A., representing clients in state courts on a range of criminal charges.
