About Michael
Michael Fayard built a legal path that crosses state lines and practice areas. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Cincinnati and went on to law school at Florida Coastal School of Law. He later completed an LL.M. in international law at Stetson University College of Law.
Early in his legal career he worked as a law clerk at Durant & Schoeppel, P.A., and served as a judicial intern for the Honorable James A. Ruth. He also served in the United States Air Force in 2001, an experience that preceded his entry into private practice.
Fayard has opened and managed his own firm at several points. He first served as managing lawyer of Fayard Law, PLLC beginning in 2008, returned to that role in 2014, and again took the managing lawyer title in 2020. Between those stints he worked on the felony line for a state lawyer’s office in Florida and spent time in the personal injury practice at Morgan & Morgan P.C. In 2019 he served as a deputy prosecuting lawyer for Maui County.
His practice touches criminal defense, personal injury, and civil litigation. He has handled felony-level matters for the state and has experience on the plaintiff side in injury cases. His resume shows movement between government and private roles, a pattern that brought courtroom experience in both prosecution and defense settings.
Fayard is licensed in multiple states and before several federal courts. His admissions include Florida, Colorado, Hawaii, and Kentucky, and he is admitted to the 11th Circuit and the United States Court of International Trade. He also holds admissions in the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, the District of Colorado, and the Districts of Hawaii and Kentucky.
He is an active member of several bar organizations. His memberships include the Maui County Bar Association, Denver Bar Association, Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, Colorado Bar Association, Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (life member), Manasota Trial Lawyers Board, Louisville Bar Association, Sarasota County Bar Association, and formerly the Jacksonville Bar Association.
Fayard maintains offices in Sarasota, Honolulu and Denver. He continues to practice law through Fayard Law, PLLC, handling criminal defense, personal injury, and related civil matters in state and federal courts.
