About Mr. Joshua C.

Mr. Joshua C. Needle earned his law degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, completing his J.D. in 1974 after undergraduate studies at California State University, Sonoma State, where he studied liberal studies and history. His academic path combined humanities and legal training, setting a course toward work in courts and public defense.

He began practicing after law school and over the decades has taken cases in state and federal forums. He is admitted to practice in California and before the Ninth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. Those admissions reflect a practice that has included trial work and matters that extend into appellate settings. Colleagues know him for steady courtroom presence rather than flash; clients and peers have referred to his thorough approach in court filings and hearings.

Needle has been active in professional organizations that shape criminal law practice in California. He serves as a Master in the American Inns of Court, and he maintains membership in the California Lawyers for Criminal Justice and the California Public Defenders Association. He is also affiliated with the ACLU. Those associations point to sustained involvement in criminal justice issues and public defense networks, and they have provided venues for him to engage with peers on emerging legal questions and training.

Throughout his career he has worked on cases that required understanding both trial procedure and appellate standards. Admission to the Ninth Circuit and the nation's high court means he has been available to handle appeals and petitions when clients' matters have moved beyond initial trials. His practice has involved representation across a range of criminal matters, and he has drawn on decades of courtroom experience to prepare briefs, argue motions and advise clients on litigation strategy.

Mr. Needle currently practices at Lawyer at Law. In his practice he handles criminal defense and appellate matters, drawing on long experience in California and federal courts to advise and represent individuals in both trial and post-trial stages of litigation.
