About Mr. D. Matthew
Mr. D. Matthew Edwards earned his Juris Doctor from Saint Louis University School of Law. He completed the legal curriculum in St. Louis and moved into practice in his home state. The law school placed emphasis on practical skills and comparable programs in trial practice and legal writing, foundations that shape how he approaches client work.
After law school Mr. Edwards gained admission to the Missouri bar and built a practice in the state. He joined Burns, Taylor, Heckemeyer & Green, L.L.C., where he works from the firm’s Missouri offices. Colleagues describe him as a steady presence who handles matters that come through the firm’s doors and coordinates with clients across the state.
Over the course of his career he has taken part in courtroom proceedings and office-based advocacy. His day-to-day work includes drafting pleadings, meeting with clients, preparing witnesses and arguing motions. That combination of courtroom and counsel work keeps his practice grounded in the concrete realities of litigation and client representation.
He also spends time on transactional and advisory tasks when clients need clarity on legal risk. Those assignments often require translating complex legal rules into plain language. He prioritizes clear explanations so clients understand options and consequences before making decisions.
Within the firm he collaborates with teammates on cases that require multiple areas of law. He draws on resources at Burns, Taylor, Heckemeyer & Green, L.L.C. to assemble the right mix of research and advocacy. Projects range from brief preparation to longer trials, depending on client goals and the issues at stake.
Outside the immediate casework he stays connected to developments in Missouri law through continuing legal education and professional reading. That helps him keep current on statutory changes and recent court decisions that affect clients in the state.
He is licensed to practice in Missouri and maintains his practice at Burns, Taylor, Heckemeyer & Green, L.L.C. His current practice concentrates on representing clients in matters arising under Missouri law.
