About Mr. Cory
Mr. Cory Thompson built a steady legal path from Cincinnati classrooms to private practice. He earned a B.A. in political science from the University of Cincinnati in 2001 and completed his J.D. at the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2004. Those years in Ohio shaped the early contours of his approach to the law.
After law school he joined a small firm as an associate. In 2005 he worked at Markesbery & Richardson, where he handled day-to-day matters typical of early-career associates and learned the practical side of client representation. Two years later he moved in-house as a staff lawyer for The Cincinnati Insurance Companies. That role exposed him to the insurer’s perspective on claims and coverage issues and to the mechanics of corporate legal work.
Thompson launched his own practice in 2009, forming Thompson Law Office, llc. Running a solo practice required a different set of skills. He managed the business side of the firm while continuing to serve clients directly. Over time he has balanced client counseling, case preparation and courtroom work as needed.
He maintains memberships in several local and state bar organizations. He has been a member of the Cincinnati Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association since 2004. He joined the Kentucky Bar Association in 2005 and the Northern Kentucky Bar Association in 2008. More recently, he became a member of the Clermont County Bar Association in 2010. Those memberships reflect a practice that spans both Ohio and Kentucky professional communities and a pattern of ongoing participation in regional legal networks.
Colleagues describe his career as one that moved steadily from firm associate to in-house lawyer to firm owner. The work at The Cincinnati Insurance Companies shapes how he approaches certain disputes. His time at a small law firm early on taught him how to manage client expectations and the practical demands of litigation. He now operates Thompson Law Office, llc, providing legal services that reflect both his in-house insurance experience and his years in private practice.
