About Mike
Mike Branum brings an uncommon mix of healthcare training and legal education to his work at a regional litigation firm. He completed his J.D. at UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law in 2018 after earlier completing a Master of Public Administration at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2005. His academic path began in the biological sciences at North Carolina State University, where he earned a B.S. in 1991, and includes an associate degree in nursing from Excelsior College earned in 2003.
Those varied credentials have shaped a measured approach to casework. After law school, Branum joined Gallian Welker & Associates as an associate in 2018. Records also show his association with the firm name Gallian Welker & Beckstrom. He has maintained professional memberships across multiple state bars and legal organizations, reflecting a practice that crosses state lines and subject areas.
Branum is licensed to practice in Arizona, Nevada and Utah. He holds membership in the State Bar of Arizona since 2018 and in both the State Bar of Nevada and the Utah State Bar since 2019. His ties to local and issue-specific groups include the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Utah Association for Justice, the Nevada Justice Association and the American Inns of Court. He also served as a member of the Clark County Bar Association from 2017 to 2019 and remains active in regional bar activities.
Colleagues describe him as someone who draws on a range of prior experience when evaluating cases. His nursing background and graduate study in public administration offer perspectives that can inform investigations, case preparation and client counseling. At the same time, his legal training at Boyd has provided the procedural and advocacy tools needed in courtroom and regulatory settings.
Branum’s practice has involved working with clients across several western states and engaging in litigation and courtroom work. He participates in criminal defense and civil justice organizations, and he handles matters that arise under the laws of Arizona, Nevada and Utah. He is currently practicing at Gallian Welker & Beckstrom, where his work primarily handles litigation, including criminal defense and civil justice matters.
