About Justin D
Justin D Caplin traced a steady path into law through Utah's colleges. He earned an A.A. from Dixie State College in 2006, followed by a B.A. in sociology from Utah State University in 2008. He completed his legal education at Brigham Young University, receiving his J.D. in 2012. Those years set the framework for a practice rooted in local courts and community institutions.
His early career began soon after law school. In 2013 he worked at Moody Brown Law, handling matters that gave him hands-on courtroom and negotiation experience. The next step came in 2018 when he joined Turner Law, PC. There he broadened his litigation skills and learned to manage client matters across family law and related disputes.
Caplin moved from associate roles into practice leadership in 2021. He opened Southern Utah Divorce Law, LLC, where he serves as owner and lawyer. Running a small firm shifted his day-to-day responsibilities. He combined client counseling with case strategy and the business tasks of keeping a firm operational.
Outside the office he has been active in regional professional and civic groups. He has been a member of the Southern Utah Bar Association since 2018 and joined the Kiwanis Club of St. George in the same year. Earlier in his career he belonged to the Central Utah Bar Association from 2013 through 2017, and he served as an associate of the A. Sherman Christensen American Inn of Court from 2014 to 2017. Those affiliations reflect steady engagement in the legal community and local civic life.
Colleagues describe his work as pragmatic. He handles case preparation, settlements and courtroom hearings. He works on legal strategy and client communication in matters that often carry emotional weight. His background in sociology informs how he frames family dynamics during negotiations and hearings.
Caplin is licensed to practice in Utah and has built a practice that concentrates on family law. He balances courtroom work with counseling clients through divorce processes, property division, child custody and support issues. He keeps the practice focused on resolving disputes through negotiation when possible, and through trial when necessary.
He continues to manage Southern Utah Divorce Law, LLC from southern Utah, representing clients across the region. His current practice focuses on divorce and related family law matters in southern Utah.
