About Michelle Mordue
Michelle Mordue Helms took an uncommon route into law. She studied music at Ithaca College in 1984, continued at the State University of New York at Albany beginning in 1985 and earned a Bachelor of Arts (1988). She later turned to legal studies and received her J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law in 1997. The mix of arts and law gives her a background that blends careful listening with an ability to analyze complex documents.
Her legal career spans more than two decades. In 2000 she operated a solo practice. She then joined the Scialdone Law Office in 2003. In 2006 she worked at the W. Ware Morrison Law Group, and in 2009 she was associated with the St. Clair Law Office. Those positions led to the establishment of her own practice, the Law Office of Michelle Mordue Helms, where she serves as counsel and manages client work.
Helms is admitted to practice in both New York and Virginia. That dual registration has allowed her to handle matters that touch on the systems and rules of two states. Colleagues describe her approach as methodical. She prepares filings, meets with clients, and handles courtroom and administrative appearances when cases require it.
Her professional affiliations include membership in the Virginia Beach Bar Association since 2013 and a membership with the Better Business Bureau beginning in 2015. These connections reflect an ongoing engagement with local legal networks and business oversight bodies. She has maintained professional ties across the region while running her firm.
Clients who come to Helms will find a lawyer who moved steadily from early private practice to roles in established firms and back into an independent practice. She balances casework with the administrative demands of running a small law office. Over time she has handled a range of matters that require attention to procedure and local court practices.
She operates out of the Law Office of Michelle Mordue Helms and continues to manage cases and client relationships from that base. She currently practices through the Law Office of Michelle Mordue Helms, focusing on matters in New York and Virginia.
