About Michael Z
Michael Z Zavier earned his law degree from Wayne State University Law School in 2009 after completing a Bachelor of Arts in General Business Administration at Michigan State University in 2005. He entered the legal world at a time when courtroom procedures and client counsel were changing rapidly. His academic background combined business studies and law, giving him an early sense of both transactional and adjudicative work.
His first post-law school experiences came through judicial and clerkship roles in 2010. He served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Richard B. Halloran, Jr., a position that placed him close to the cadence of court decision-making. In the same year he worked as a law clerk at Joel B. Sklar Law, where he handled research and drafting tasks that sharpened his legal writing and case-preparation skills.
In 2012 he founded Michael Z. Zavier PLC. The firm-building effort followed his early clerkship work and preceded a shift back into firm practice. In 2014 he joined Paskel, Tashman & Walker, P.C. as an associate. Those steps — founding a practice and then working as an associate at an established firm — gave him a mix of perspectives on how legal work is managed and delivered in both boutique and larger firm settings.
Zavier is licensed to practice in Michigan and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. His career shows repeated courtroom and appellate exposure, beginning with his judicial externship and continuing through his subsequent practice. He has handled case development, legal research, motion drafting and courtroom appearances in matters that progressed through state and federal fora.
Colleagues describe his approach as pragmatic and detail-oriented. He tends to break complex problems into discrete tasks and to prioritize clear writing and organized files. Those habits helped when he moved between roles — from clerkship to firm ownership, and then into an associate role — and they inform how he manages client matters today.
He maintains an active practice that has encompassed state and federal proceedings. His current work is focused on litigation handled in Michigan state courts and in proceedings before the Sixth Circuit.
