About Marc
Marc Lipton built a legal path that moves from the lecture hall to the courtroom. He earned a B.A. at the University of Michigan–Dearborn and later took his law degree from Harvard Law School. Those schools mark the start of a long career rooted in formal training and sustained practice.
He began his professional trajectory after law school and over time became a leader at Lipton Law. He has served as the firm’s managing partner since 1990. That title reflects decades running a practice rather than a brief stint at the helm.
Lipton is licensed to practice in Michigan and is admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He appears in state courts and in federal appellate proceedings, representing clients where the matters require continuity between trial and appeals levels. His courtroom work and appellate entries come from that mix of venues rather than from a single kind of filing.
His professional affiliations include membership in the Michigan Association for Justice and the American Association for Justice. He maintains those connections to professional peers and to organizations that concentrate on trial practice and litigation policy. He does not list academic posts or bar leadership positions in public materials.
At Lipton Law he manages a range of firm responsibilities: case intake, client strategy and oversight of litigation as it moves through state and federal dockets. Colleagues say he balances administrative duties and casework; clients see a practitioner who keeps an eye on both the details of individual matters and the broader direction of the office.
Over the years he has steered the firm through changes in procedure and practice in Michigan courts and in federal appellate procedure. The longevity of his role at the firm means he has handled transitions in legal technology and shifts in litigation trends. Those are practical, day-to-day concerns rather than academic curiosities.
Outside court sessions, Lipton continues to participate in professional association activities and to supervise attorneys at his firm. He remains based at Lipton Law and practices in Michigan and before the Sixth Circuit, where his current practice focuses on litigation matters brought in state and federal courts.
