About Michael
Michael Worgul built his legal foundation at Duquesne University. He completed a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems in 2001 and earned his J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law in 2004. Those years in Pittsburgh shaped his approach to practice: methodical, practical and tethered to local institutions.
He joined the Pennsylvania bar soon after law school and entered criminal litigation. Early in his career he became active in professional associations, joining the Pennsylvania State Bar Association in 2004 and the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Criminal Litigation Section in 2005. He later added a membership in the National College for DUI Defense, a group that draws defense lawyers who handle driving-under-the-influence cases.
Worgul moved into firm leadership in 2008 when he became managing partner of Worgul, Sarna & Ness, Criminal Defense Lawyers, LLC. That year marked a shift from associate work to a role running a practice — handling cases, supervising other lawyers and overseeing day-to-day operations. His title reflects management responsibilities as well as continuing courtroom work.
Throughout his career he has focused on criminal defense. Court dockets and client needs have ranged from misdemeanor matters to serious felony charges. He has handled DUI-related cases and other criminal matters typical of a firm that identifies itself as criminal defense lawyers. He prepares cases for trial, negotiates with prosecutors and represents clients at hearings and sentencing proceedings.
Colleagues and opponents portray him as a lawyer who spends time preparing for court and explaining options to clients. He is a regular participant in local bar activities and attends programs that address evolving criminal law issues. That engagement keeps him current on changes in procedure and on rulings that affect trial strategy.
Worgul divides his professional time between managing his firm and representing clients in criminal matters. He remains based in Pennsylvania and continues to serve defendants facing DUI and other criminal charges. His current practice concentrates on criminal defense work in Pennsylvania courts.
