About Michael Ward
Michael Ward Hogue earned his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center in 1980 after completing an undergraduate S.S. degree at the University of Texas at Austin in 1977. He moved from academic study into legal practice at a time when the Texas legal landscape was changing rapidly. He has practiced under the rules of Texas and in federal court in the Southern District of Texas.
His education combined a regional undergraduate foundation with several years of legal training in Houston. The sequence of degrees—University of Texas, then University of Houston Law Center—places him among lawyers who trained in both a large public flagship institution and a law school embedded in one of the state’s largest legal markets. Those formative years prepared him for the courtroom procedures and statutory environments he would encounter in Texas courts.
Hogue is associated with Schouest Bamdas Soshea & BenMaier. His name appears in the firm’s roster of attorneys and he works from that platform. The firm affiliation situates him within a practice environment that serves clients across a range of matters in the state. His role there ties his professional activity to a team-based law practice model.
He is admitted to practice in Texas and before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Those admissions allow him to represent individuals and entities in both state venues and federal forums that cover much of the Gulf Coast and the Houston metropolitan area. Practicing in federal court requires familiarity with a different set of rules and procedures than state court, and his admissions reflect that dual practice ability.
As of 2026, more than four decades have passed since he completed law school. That span of time has given him sustained exposure to litigation cycles, statutory revisions, and evolving courtroom norms. His career includes appearances in Texas courts and filings in federal court, consistent with the jurisdictions where he is admitted.
He is currently practicing at Schouest Bamdas Soshea & BenMaier and regularly appears in matters in Texas state courts and in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. His present practice centers on serving clients through that firm in those jurisdictions.
