About Michael Thomas
Michael Thomas Baker has built a practice around the everyday legal needs of older adults and families planning for the future. He combines training in political science, policy studies and economics with a law degree earned in 2005. The education mix informs the practical approach he brings to estate and elder law matters.
He completed his undergraduate studies at Syracuse University, where he studied political science, policy studies and economics. He went on to earn his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in 2005. After law school he entered private practice in Massachusetts and has maintained a steady presence in the state’s legal community since then.
Baker’s career has been shaped by steady involvement in bar and professional organizations. He serves on the Boston Bar Association’s Steering Committee for Trusts and Estates and is co-chairman of the association’s Trusts & Estate Pro Bono Committee. Those roles keep him connected to both the formal practice community and volunteer efforts that extend legal services to those who need them without charge.
He holds memberships in a range of professional groups. Those include the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Massachusetts Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a member of the Plymouth County District Bar, the Boston Estate Planning Council, and regional chambers of commerce in Plymouth and MetroWest. His membership in the Massachusetts State Bar dates to 2005.
At Baker Law Group P.C., he practices across several office locations: the firm’s main office, and regional offices serving the Southeast, South Shore and Cape Cod, and Boston Metrowest. He handles matters that commonly arise in estate planning and elder law, and he works directly with families on wills, trusts, powers of attorney and related planning documents. His work often requires coordinating with accountants and other advisors, and his memberships reflect that interdisciplinary approach.
Colleagues describe him as steady in client meetings and thoughtful when preparing documents. He participates in pro bono work through the bar association committee he co-chairs, helping ensure access to basic estate planning for low- and moderate-income residents. That community involvement informs the way he organizes client files and prioritizes issues during consultations.
He continues to practice law in Massachusetts through Baker Law Group P.C., working from multiple regional offices and engaging in both private client work and association-led public service. He practices in estate planning, elder law, and related matters.
