About Michael P.
Michael P. Mullin graduated from Christopher Newport University in 2004 and earned his Juris Doctor from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law in 2007. He entered the legal profession following law school and has spent time both in public prosecution and in private practice. His academic path combined a liberal arts undergraduate education with three years of legal training in Washington, D.C., giving him a foundation for courtroom work and public service.
Mullin began his prosecutorial career in Suffolk, Virginia, serving as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney starting in 2013. He handled felony and misdemeanor cases on behalf of the Commonwealth, gaining trial experience and familiarity with local criminal procedures. In 2019 he joined the Hampton Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney, taking on similar responsibilities in a different jurisdiction. Those years in two Virginia offices shaped his approach to evidence, witness preparation, and jury advocacy.
In 2021 Mullin moved into private practice as a lawyer with Randall, Page & Bruch, P.C. At the firm he has represented clients in criminal matters and advised on issues that draw on his background as a prosecutor. His practice combines courtroom work with case strategy and client counseling. Colleagues and opposing counsel have encountered him in courtrooms across the region where he has advocated on matters arising from his prior public-sector cases as well as new matters taken on in private practice.
Outside the courtroom Mullin has taken on roles in public office. He has served as a Delegate in the Virginia House of Delegates since 2016 and has been elected Whip by his party colleagues beginning in 2020. He continues to balance legislative duties with his legal practice, participating in the lawmaking process while maintaining an active caseload. That dual role has kept him engaged with issues that affect both policy and practice in Virginia.
Mullin holds a Gang Specialist certification from the Virginia Gang Investigators Association. That credential reflects additional training in gang-related investigations and prosecutorial tactics. It informs his handling of cases where gang activity, charged offenses, or networked criminal behavior are factors. He remains a member of professional and civic groups and continues to apply his prosecutorial background to his current legal work.
He currently practices law at Randall, Page & Bruch, P.C., where his work centers on criminal defense and related litigation matters.
