Michael Hackman is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1968. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Hackman is a shareholder at Lewitt Hackman, a law firm located in Encino, California. He has been practicing law for over fifty-seven years, serving clients throughout the greater Los Angeles area and surrounding regions.

Mr. Hackman earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Law in 1967. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at Wesleyan University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1962. He furthered his education with a Master of Business Administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1964.

Mr. Hackman concentrates his practice in the areas of tax law, business law, estate planning, and health care law. He represents individuals and businesses in matters involving tax planning, business succession, estate administration, and health care regulations. His practice encompasses all stages of legal proceedings, including initial case evaluation, negotiations, and complex transactions, particularly in multi-state contexts.

Throughout his career, Mr. Hackman has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Los Angeles, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the United States Tax Court. He has also appeared before various federal and state legislative and administrative bodies. Prior to joining Lewitt Hackman, he served as a consultant to the California State Assembly Ways and Means Committee.

Mr. Hackman is an active member of the California State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He holds membership in the American Health Lawyers Association and the California Society of Hospital Attorneys. He has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America for Tax Law since 2019 and has received an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating for legal ability and ethics. He is also a certified specialist in tax law, a designation he has maintained since 1977.
