About Michael H
Michael H Schwartz earned his law degree from New York Law School in 1979. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts from the City University of New York, City College, recorded as 1980. While at New York Law School he was part of the Law Review. Those years shaped the start of a career that moved quickly from corporate practice to private representation.
His early legal work began in the business world. In 1982 he joined Carvel Corporation as a lawyer. A few years later he worked in the Office of General Counsel at Xerox Corporation in 1985. Those positions placed him inside corporate legal departments and exposed him to commercial and transactional issues.
In 1986 he opened his own practice, founding Michael H Schwartz, P.C. The firm grew out of his prior corporate experience and an interest in client-side advocacy. He has maintained the firm since that year and continued to develop practice areas connected to consumer financial issues and bankruptcy matters.
Over the years he completed a series of specialized trainings. They include the Famous Advanced Foreclosure Defense and Mortgage Modification Bootcamp and the Famous Max Gardner Foreclosure Defense and Mortgage Modification Bootcamp. He is a graduate of Max Gardner’s Veteran’s Boot Camp and Max Gardner Bankruptcy Boot Camp. He also received training through the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Lawyers’ program titled Fighting Back: Helping Debtors Survive the New Bankruptcy Law.
He is admitted to practice in New York and in the federal courts of the Second Circuit. Professional memberships include current participation in the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Lawyers. His name also appears in Sutton’s Who’s Who in American Law as a lifetime member. His law school involvement with the New York Law School Law Review remains part of his academic record.
Schwartz operates from an office listed at One Barker Avenue. His caseload and continuing education indicate a steady orientation toward consumer bankruptcy, foreclosure defense, mortgage modification and related debtor-side representation. He handles matters arising in state and federal courts and brings boot-camp training to courtroom and client work.
