About Michael H.
Michael H. Gaier studied at Pennsylvania State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1984. He continued his education at New England Law | Boston and received his Juris Doctor in 1987. Those years of study laid the groundwork for a long career in the Pennsylvania legal community.
After law school, Gaier built a practice in his home state. He is a partner at Shaffer & Gaier. Over more than three decades he has maintained an active presence in the courts and within professional organizations that shape litigation practice in Pennsylvania.
Gaier maintains memberships in a range of bar and trial organizations. He is an active member of the Philadelphia Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association. He also holds membership in the American Bar Association. His participation extends to trial-focused groups, including the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association and the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association.
Colleagues describe his work rhythm as steady. He balances courtroom preparation, client meetings and the routine demands of firm management. At Shaffer & Gaier he shares responsibility for guiding cases through discovery, motion practice and trial when necessary. He works primarily on matters arising in Pennsylvania courts and handles the procedural and tactical demands those cases require.
Gaier’s office is listed at 8 Penn Center. From that base he coordinates filings, hearings and client consultations. He is known around local courthouses for a methodical approach to case development and for keeping clients informed about practical next steps.
Outside the courtroom he stays involved in the legal community through the associations that reflect his practice interests. His memberships keep him connected to continuing legal education, local court developments and the network of trial lawyers who regularly appear in state courts.
He has practiced law since the late 1980s and continues to serve clients in Pennsylvania. As a partner at Shaffer & Gaier he represents individuals and organizations in matters brought in Pennsylvania courts and maintains an active litigation practice.
