About Michael
Michael Drake earned his law degree from the University of Miami School of Law in 2015. While at Miami he worked as a research assistant in 2013, an early indication of an interest in the mechanics of litigation. That same year he served as a law clerk at The Whitehead Law Group, gaining practical courtroom exposure before graduation.
After passing through the early stages of legal training, Drake joined The Dean Law Office, LLC as an associate lawyer in 2016. He spent several years there building courtroom experience and handling client matters at the trial level. In 2019 he moved to The Law Office of Rickard & Nix and took on the title of Senior Trial Lawyer. That role broadened his responsibilities and placed him more squarely in front of juries and judges.
In 2022 Drake opened his own practice, Drake Legal. The move followed nearly a decade of work inside different practice settings, from clerkships to associate positions to senior trial responsibilities. He practices in Georgia, where his career has been anchored since leaving law school.
Drake’s professional affiliations reflect the kinds of work he undertakes. He holds memberships in the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, the Nation Association for Criminal Defense Lawyers, The National Trial Lawyers Association, the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Gwinnett County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Those connections keep him engaged with peers and current developments in trial practice and criminal defense.
Colleagues describe him as deliberate in the courtroom. He prepares methodically for hearings and trials and values clear communication with clients. His path from research assistant and law clerk to senior trial lawyer and solo practitioner shows a steady accumulation of trial work and courtroom time.
