About Melyssa

Melyssa Davidson built her legal foundation at two universities across the West. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Utah in 1988 and completed her law degree at the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco in 1991. Those years framed an early interest in litigation and federal practice that would shape her later career.

After law school, Davidson established herself in Utah courts and the regional federal system. She is admitted to practice in Utah and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Over the years she has handled matters that required appearances in both trial courts and appellate settings. Her courtroom experience spans initial hearings, motions practice, trials and appellate briefs.

Her approach in court is practical and steady. Colleagues note that she prepares cases to be heard at multiple levels, and that preparation often determines how a case proceeds. She has written and argued filings in federal appellate proceedings when issues have moved beyond the trial level. That appellate work informs how she handles evidentiary and procedural choices earlier in litigation.

Davidson is based at the law firm Morris Sperry. In that office she has worked on litigation that arises under state statutes and federal law. Clients bring matters that require careful procedural handling and an understanding of local court rules, and she has built a practice around those demands. She navigates discovery disputes, pretrial motion practice, settlement negotiations and trial when cases do not resolve earlier.

Outside the courtroom she maintains ties to legal education and the local bar through attending continuing legal education programs and professional events. Her educational background keeps her connected to academic developments, while regular courtroom work keeps her engaged with evolving case law in the Tenth Circuit and Utah state courts.

Davidson’s record shows a lawyer comfortable in both trial and appellate settings. She manages litigation from intake through appeal when necessary. Her current practice focuses on matters brought in Utah state and federal courts, including appeals in the Tenth Circuit.
