About Jordan
Jordan Haycock grew up in the Mountain West and stayed close to home for his higher education. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Utah in 2010, then returned to the same campus to complete his J.D. at the S.J. Quinney College of Law in 2014. Those years at the university shaped his approach to legal work. They gave him exposure to both the technical and human sides of practicing law.
After law school, Haycock entered private practice. He is listed as a lawyer at Greg Smith and Associates. At the firm he works alongside other defense attorneys and handles client representation in state courts. His work has involved courtroom appearances, client counseling, and drafting the motions and briefs that drive case strategy. The firm setting has let him apply classroom lessons to real-world problems, and it has kept him grounded in the day-to-day tasks of litigation.
Haycock is active in the local legal community. He is a current member of the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. That membership places him among peers who focus on trial practice and criminal procedure. He participates in meetings and professional programming where lawyers trade tactics, discuss evolving case law, and refine trial technique. Participation in professional groups helps him stay current on developments in criminal law in Utah.
Colleagues describe Haycock as methodical in his preparation. He approaches cases by breaking down evidence and legal claims into manageable parts. That method serves him when he interviews clients or prepares witnesses for trial. It also informs his written work—the motions and briefs he prepares aim to be clear and to the point. He balances attention to detail with an eye toward the audience in court: judges and jurors who must follow the story the lawyer lays out.
Outside the office, Haycock’s academic background in finance sometimes surfaces in casework. That training helps when matters involve financial records, budgeting for expert testimony, or explaining numbers to a nontechnical audience. It gives him an added tool when cases touch on monetary issues or business-related facts.
He is licensed to practice in Utah and maintains an active role at Greg Smith and Associates. He is a member of the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and continues to handle criminal defense matters at his firm, representing clients in Utah courts.
