About Melissa L.

Melissa L. Wheaton is a Trusts and Estates Attorney at Killgore Pearlman Semanie & Squires, P.A. in Orlando, Florida. She has been licensed to practice law in Florida since 2003.

A fifth-generation Florida native from Jacksonville, Melissa earned her Bachelor’s and Juris Doctor degrees with honors from the University of Florida. During law school, she served as a Teaching Assistant for Legal Research and Writing and Appellate Advocacy, and advocated for children in education matters through Gator Team Child. After law school, she obtained a Master of Science in Management from Troy University. Her interest in taxation and estate planning led her to earn an LL.M.

in Taxation from Boston University School of Law, where she received an Estate Planning Certificate. Before joining Killgore Pearlman Semanie & Squires, P.A. in 2023, Melissa founded and led an estate planning firm in South Florida. She also spent over 12 years with a Fortune 260 company, serving as Director of Labor Relations, Arbitration & Strategy, where she led a team in handling contract disputes, negotiating agreements, and settling high-liability cases.

At Killgore Pearlman Semanie & Squires, P.A., Melissa leads the Estate Planning and Probate Practice Group. Her practice focuses on estate planning, guardianships, probate, and trust administration. Melissa is a member of the Florida Bar and has been practicing law in Florida since 2003.
