About Melissa
Melissa Kobernitski built her legal foundation at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. She left law school prepared for practice in New York and moved into private practice soon after.
Her career has centered on practicing law in New York. Over the years she established Kobernitski Law, P.C., where she now maintains her office. She has handled matters that brought her into state courts and into discussions with opposing counsel and judges. She developed a courtroom temperament and a familiarity with procedural practice that come from sustained practice rather than headline cases.
Kobernitski remains active in professional circles. She holds current memberships in the New York State Bar, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice and the Hispanic National Bar Association. Those affiliations keep her connected to peers and to developments in litigation strategy, evidence rules and trial practice. She also uses those networks to stay updated on continuing legal education and shifting court procedures in New York.
Colleagues describe her as practical and detail-oriented in case handling. She attends to filing deadlines, discovery demands and the mechanics of motion practice. Her courtroom work is methodical. She prioritizes preparing a clear record and presenting arguments that judges can follow. The office she founded operates like a small trial shop: focused on case preparation, negotiation when appropriate, and ready for hearings when settlement is not an option.
At Kobernitski Law, P.C. she represents clients in matters that arise under New York law. She is licensed to practice in New York and maintains memberships in state and national bar organizations to support her practice. Her current practice concentrates on providing legal representation to clients in New York state courts.
