About Melissa
Melissa Cain built her legal foundation at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management in 2000. She stayed on in Las Vegas to complete her Juris Doctor at the UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law, graduating in 2004. Those years in Nevada shaped her early understanding of both business concerns and litigation strategy.
After law school, Cain entered private practice. Over time she pursued admission in multiple jurisdictions. She is licensed to practice in Florida, Nevada, Alabama and California. She also maintains memberships in the Nevada State Bar, the Alabama State Bar and the State Bar of California. Those registrations reflect a practice that engages with legal questions spanning more than one state.
Colleagues describe her as methodical in case preparation and direct in courtroom settings. She has handled matters that required coordination across state lines, and she often works with attorneys and clients who need counsel in more than one jurisdiction. Cain’s background in business administration informs how she approaches transactional work and disputes that involve corporate or commercial elements.
Cain’s career has involved both client counseling and litigation. She spent significant time in firm settings where teamwork and client communication were central. She has worked on cases that required detailed factual development and document review, alongside matters that moved quickly through negotiation or court schedules. Her dual grounding in business and law allows her to frame legal questions with an eye to practical outcomes.
At Cain & Cain, PL, she practices alongside other attorneys and staff. The firm handles a range of matters, and Cain contributes her multi-jurisdictional licensure to the group’s capacity to serve clients with interstate needs. She retains active memberships in state bar organizations to stay current on rules, ethics and procedural developments in the states where she is authorized to practice.
Outside of casework, Cain has been involved in professional associations tied to her admissions. Those affiliations give her access to continuing legal education and peer review. She is known to prioritize clear client communication and efficient case management. Her current work at Cain & Cain, PL centers on matters that cross the states in which she is licensed.
